BLUE MONDAY

It may not be Monday anymore, but these pictures were taken then. Because blue is my favorite color, I wanted to feature it in my first blog post of the year.

Walking the streets of West Oakland provided the perfect setting for some great shots!

West Oakland may get a bad rep, but I love my Oakland! <3

Yes, I decided to change pants midway through the shoot. But the black pants went better with the outfit. One can simply not go wrong with black. ... And let me just say, that changing between skinny jeans in the backseat of a car is no easy feat! #thestruggleisreal

West Oakland has some rad graffiti. Can't wait to keep exploring as the year continues.

The following blue graffiti piece is my favorite. I could not stop smiling after I spotted it. It has so many of my favorite things: blue, geometric shapes, triangles, blue, black, and blue!!! :-)

In love with that mural!!!!

Shirt: Gap
Pants: Levi's 510 ... the most comfortable and form-fitting jeans I own.
Shoes: Nike Flex Run 2014
Sunnies: Banana Republic

This one goes out to all my Kylie fans! <3

GAP X BLOOD ORANGE

It seems Gap is trying to make a comeback with its advertising, and they've teamed up with none other than Blood Orange to do so. The result: a fun, beautiful, and colorful collaboration. I liked stripes before, and now I like them even more.

Directed by Alex De Corte, "Play Your Stripes" sees Dev Hynes (Blood Orange) turns his stripey clothing into a musical instrument. Watch for yourself.

And, this ad "Sweater Speaker!" These are great! Keep them coming, Gap. Maybe this way, you'll finally regain some of the youth market you lost to Urban Outfitters and American Apparel.

What do you guys think?

daily style // no parking

Who wears short shorts? I do! I do!

Though I now reside in Oakland, I was born and raised in LA. I am a SoCal person, at heart. I wear shorts year round.

The sun was out. Karl the fog was nowhere to be found. Perfect weather to wear my new pair of American Apparel relaxed shorts. Paired with a blue shirt and a marled cardigan, I put together one of my favorite go-to outfit combinations: shorts & sweater.

Living in the SF Bay Area has taught me the need for versatility in my outfits. I need to be prepared for the unpredictable changes in temperature throughout the day - we can experience a typical sunny California day and cooling maritime fog all in one day. Layers work in our favor here. So adding a sweater of sorts to an outfit centered around shorts provides that much needed practicality the Bay Area asks of its residents.

But I do still live in California, after all. So, I never leave home without my favorite pair of sunglasses. With my cardigan, Ray-Bans, and backpack on hand, I'm ready for what the day throws my way.
