To celebrate its 40 years as a coffee supplier to the masses, Starbucks asked designers Alexander Wang, Sophie Theallet, and Billy Reid to design T-shirts inspired by the brand to be sold exclusively on StarbucksStore.com and at select Nordstrom locations.
Soon after its public release, Alexander Wang's design received much criticism for it being an $85 coffee-stained-shirt. As noted by the title, I agree with the critics' stand against Starbucks's pricing of Wang's design (especially when considering the present economic recession of the United States). In my opinion, his design is a failed realization of the creative potential a coffee stain could produce for a fashion forward piece.
